In a significant step towards strengthening Romania's regional digital capabilities, Scientific Events proudly coordinated and organised a high-level in-house training programme on behalf of the European Academy, as part of its strategic partnership with the North-East Regional Development Agency of Romania.

The specialised course, titled Digital Transformation in Public Services | Strategic Tools for Innovation, took place in Thessaloniki, Greece, from 28 to 30 May 2025. It was designed to equip public officials with the essential tools and insights required to lead digital transformation efforts within regional and municipal administrations.

Over the three-day course, participants engaged with key topics in digital governance and innovation, including:

- The distinctions between digitisation, digitalisation, and transformation

- Platform-based service delivery and citizen-centric engagement

- Strategic use of public data

- Rapid experimentation and innovation models

- Adapting public value to evolving citizen needs

- Navigating disruption in public services

Interactive workshops enabled attendees to apply theory to practice, develop actionable insights, and foster a shared digital vision across institutions.

A key component of the training was a study visit to the Region of Central Macedonia, carefully arranged and facilitated by Scientific Events. The Romanian delegation visited the region’s bioclimatic public headquarters, where they engaged with Greek counterparts to exchange knowledge on digital governance initiatives and regional entrepreneurship strategies, reinforcing cross-border collaboration.

This impactful course is part of a broader initiative supported by Scientific Events, which took full responsibility for the end-to-end coordination of the programme. Strategic Training Boosts Romania's Regional Digital Innovation Capacity

On 20–21 March 2025, Scientific Events successfully organised and coordinated an in-class training on Financial Administration & Auditing Preparation for EU-Funded Projects on behalf of the European Academy. The two-day course, held in Athens, brought together professionals actively managing European Commission-funded projects.

The programme offered a hands-on and interactive learning experience, with a strong emphasis on peer-to-peer exchanges, practical case discussions, and dynamic group learning. This approach ensured participants could directly connect course material with their day-to-day financial management responsibilities.

Participants explored key aspects of financial compliance and audit preparation, including contractual and financial obligations, documentation standards, distinctions between eligible and non-eligible costs, the management of direct and indirect costs, and strategies for preparing successfully for audits.

As organiser, Scientific Events managed the full coordination of the training overseeing logistics, venue arrangements, meals, menus, and coffee breaks, as well as on-site facilitation. Scientific Events Organises Training on Financial Administration & Audit Preparation in Athens

On 3–4 March 2025, Scientific Events successfully organised and coordinated a two-day training on the PM² Project Management Methodology on behalf of the European Academy. The event took place at the Sofitel Lisbon Liberdade, bringing together professionals responsible for managing EU-funded projects.

The programme blended expert presentations, practical exercises, and interactive group discussions, offering participants an in-depth understanding of the PM² methodology. Key areas of focus included project planning, stakeholder engagement, risk management, and quality control essential elements for effective project delivery under European Commission frameworks.

Through hands-on exercises and real-world case scenarios, participants were able to apply PM² principles directly to the challenges they face in their projects. This practical approach not only strengthened their understanding of the methodology but also encouraged peer-to-peer knowledge exchange and the sharing of best practices.

The vibrant setting of Lisbon provided an ideal environment for both learning and professional networking. Participants benefited from dynamic discussions while also building valuable connections with colleagues from across Europe, making the training a rich and collaborative experience.

Scientific Events Organises PM² Project Management Training in Lisbon

Brussels, the heart of European decision-making, hosted a diverse group of professionals on 17–18 October 2024 for an intensive training on Financial Administration & Auditing Preparation for EU-Funded Projects. The course brought together participants from Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland, the Republic of Moldova, and Latvia, all representing institutions actively managing or auditing European Commission-funded projects.



A Programme Led by Expertise

Organised and coordinated by Scientific Events on behalf of the European Academy, the training was delivered by seasoned expert Sara Dishkova, a former European Commission auditor. Her sessions provided participants with practical insights into key areas such as EU funding regulations, cost eligibility, financial reporting, and audit preparation.

Interactive exercises and real-world case discussions allowed attendees to connect theory with practice, enhancing their ability to ensure compliance and strengthen financial management within their organisations



Networking and Exchange

The Athens 2025: Advanced EU Funding & Project Innovation Camp, an international training programme, was held in Athens from 2 to 6 June 2025 and was organised and fully managed by Scientific Events on behalf of the European Academy.

This five-day intensive camp brought together professionals from across Europe, the United States, and Latin America, offering high-quality training in EU project design, innovation, and financial management. Designed to foster both learning and collaboration, the Summer Camp blended expert-led sessions with hands-on workshops and curated networking activities.

Scientific Events was proud to be entrusted with the full organisation, coordination, and delivery of this flagship programme from venue logistics and trainer liaison to on-site event management and social experiences.

From 24–28 March 2025, Scientific Events successfully organised and coordinated a comprehensive in-house Train the Trainer (ToT) Programme on behalf of the European Academy for the team at Oxfam Novib in The Hague. The five-day training, led by senior trainer Marco Amici, was designed to strengthen Oxfam Novib’s internal training capacity while enhancing strategic and practical competencies in managing EU-funded projects.



Programme Highlights

Carefully coordinated by Scientific Events, the programme combined project management excellence with adult learning methodologies, ensuring participants not only gained technical expertise but also developed the skills to pass on knowledge effectively. The sessions covered essential aspects such as project governance, EU funding opportunities, financial management, risk and procurement procedures, as well as communication, sustainability practices, and training design. The training methodology integrated case studies, Problem-Based Learning (PBL), mind mapping, and the use of AI tools and digital project management platforms—ensuring a dynamic and practical learning environment.



From Project Managers to Internal Trainers

A defining outcome of the ToT programme was enabling participants to take on dual roles: as enhanced project managers and as confident internal trainers. Through workshops on public speaking, interactive delivery, and course design, participants gained the capacity to deliver impactful internal training and extend learning across Oxfam Novib’s global partner networks.
